•  Schools and other educational establishments are very sensitive areas when considering health and safety issues

•  Trees are one of the most important issues to be considered

•  Regular surveys are to be recommended on such sites. We advocate a period of 12 months between inspections, but in the event of severe weather conditions i.e. storms, it is important that at least one member of staff is suitably knowledgeable to undertake a risk assessment in respect of the trees on (or near) the school grounds.

•  Head Teachers should also be aware of their obligations under the Occupier's Liability Act
